About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Field Technician to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The Field Technician will work with multi-disciplinary teams to envision and create complex demonstration prototypes (primarily unmanned) and innovative solutions to challenging national security problems.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen- Must have an Active Secret Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Must be within 100 miles of worksite (Lexington, MA)

Responsibilities:

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications, relations, and provides onsite training.

Required:

  • BS in in Electro/Mechanical/Robotic/Software engineering and/or design from an accredited college.
  • Use of Linux operating systems
  • Experience with ROS and Python
  • Hands-on experience with electronic and computer equipment, software, integration, and testing techniques.
  • Ability to obtain safety certifications for and operate heavy machinery
  • Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and graphical software for recording experimental data
  • Experience with software configuration control, GIT version control
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and operating motion capture capabilities is required.
  • Possessing UAV piloting experience and licensing (Part 107 Flight certification)
  • The successful candidate will be well organized, self-driven, creative, detail-oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • This position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to grow and maintain relationships across the organization, and be the SME for the AS Organization.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and growing environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with other team members including those in a management, technical, administrative, or financial function.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with integrated circuit test equipment, device probing, and ESD mitigation techniques is desirable.
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW and C++, plus experience interfacing with sensors and controlling motors is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with integrated circuit test equipment, device probing, and electronic discharge mitigation techniques is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and patching is desirable but not required. CAD experience is a plus.

Must Have:

  • Part 107 flight certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Currently holds a Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance)
  • 3 years Experience installing, maintaining, and operating motion capture capabilities
  • 4 years Experience with Drones and controlling drones
  • 4 years Networking experience (routers/switches/firewalls/servers)
  • 4 years Work with Cross-Functional Teams
  • 4 years GIT/GITHUB
  • 4 years Python and Bash scripting
  • 4 years Robotics Software Frameworks (Robot Operating System / ROS, ROS 2, LCM, Issac)
  • 4 years Excellent Problem Solving
  • MS Suite (Excel, ppt)
  • 4 years Diagnose and Troubleshoot Issues
  • 4 years Operating Systems (Linux OR Unix)

Nice to Have:

  • Autonomous Systems and Robotics
  • C/C++
  • Virtualization Technologies (VMware, including ESXi and VCenter configuration)
