About the Role:
Aquila Technology is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The Senior Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for performing systems administration on Red Hat 8/9 servers, Red Hat Identity Management (IdM), and Red Hat Ansible Automation. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate experience in server performance optimization, cyber security, OS and application patching, McAfee suite, scripting, storage, and disaster recovery.
There are a few requirements for the position:
- Must be a U.S Citizen– Must have an Active Secret Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
Must Have
- Clearance Level: Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance)
- 5 years – Networks
- 5 years – Networking Applications and Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP and HTTP/S.
- 5 years – SSH Server implementation, Linux Networking Configuration, Host Based Firewall, Web Server
- 5 years – Programming
- 5 years – Scripting Experience: Python, Ansible, TCL or Bash
- 5 years – Systems
- 5 years – Configuration of Distributed Environments, including NFS for Storage
- 5 years – Configure and Maintain a Number of Linux Systems Utilizing Scripting Languages and Automation Tools
- 5 years – Diagnose and Troubleshoot Issues
- 5 years – Enterprise Backup Solutions
- 3 years – Linux Patch Management
- 3 years – MS Active Directory, LDAP
- 5 years – Redhat Linux Systems Administration

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Red Hat 8/9 Linux
- Experience in setting up and deploying network services (e.g. GitLab/GitHub, Apache Web Server, NFS server)
- Centralized account management (experience with Red Hat Identity Management or Free IPA server is a plus)
- Possess or have the ability to obtain security relevant certifications (e.g. Security+ and Linux+ or equivalent)
- Applied understanding of system hardening (experience with DoD system hardening guidelines is preferred, but not required)
Knowledge/experience with one or more of the following a plus:
- Knowledge of Virtualization Technologies such as VMware or RedHat Virtualization
- Network support including SSH server implementation, Linux networking configuration, NFS, Host Based Firewall, Web Servers
- PKI, Multi-Factor Authentication, and PIV Technologies
- Linux kernel, system tuning and performance analysis
- Remote KVM experience
- BS in Computer Science or related field and 5 years experience or MS Computer Science or related field and 2 years experience

Work Location: Candidates should expect to be onsite 5 days a week. There may be flexibility for up to 1 day work from home but will be dependent on program requirements. Final schedule to be determined by the hiring manager.
Travel: CONUS travel may be once a quarter for a week (Hawaii & Alaska included)
