REMOTE DevOps Engineer

This position is VIRTUAL. The candidate can work remotely but they MUST live within 100 miles of Lexington so that they can come into the organization if necessary for the needs of the program. The onsite work will NOT be regular.

About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Remote DevOps Engineer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)

What You’ll Do:

 

Maintains operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination of infrastructure and cloud responsibilities. Develops and designs core operating system builds. Responsible for coding, virtualization, and automation of systems. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains an active directory of users and system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Assesses and resolves user access problems related to security controls to minimize business impact and risk exposure. Identifies and evaluates vendor products and establishes vendor monitoring and tracking processes. Performs capacity planning and monitors/tunes systems. Recommends appropriate platforms for purchase, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Serves as a point of escalation for major incidents that are unresolved at the helpdesk level. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. May draft general IT communications to end-users including notifications of outages/downtimes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • deploying and maintaining application infrastructure, with a focus on Generative AI technologies.
  • Programming languages such as Python, and experience with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • DevOps practices and tools for automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for AI and machine learning, with a desire to stay updated on the latest advancements and trends in the field.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience

 

Must Have:

  • 5 years DevOps processes, practices, and tools.
  • 1 years Deploy and maintain application infrastructure (generative AI technologies)
  • 1 years Machine learning protocols (Pytorch or TensorFlow)
  • 5 years Containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • 5 years Python
  • 5 years Cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • 5 years Experience with DevOps workflows and common CI/CD tools

Nice to Have:

  • Big Data Analysis
  • Building and deploying containers (Docker or Singularity)
  • Administering Apache based applications
  • Distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark)

Clearance: An interim clearance is sufficient for the start of this position.
