About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.

What You’ll Do:
The group’s current research and development efforts focus on problems such as tracking and identification of newly launched satellites, tracking and discrimination of satellites in geosynchronous clusters, automated radar image exploitation, close approach monitoring and collision warning, applications of multi-sensor data fusion, and decision support. The group is also developing a net-centric, service-oriented information system. There is a need to support all of the infrastructure with a Systems Administrator.

What You’ll Bring:

    • Currently holds a Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance)
    • 3 years of General Hardware
    • 3 years of configuring and managing centralized Logging and Audit Capabilities
    • 5 years of Enterprise Backup Solutions
    • 3 years MS Active Directory, LDAP
    • 3 years of SCCM, and Active Directory
    • 3 years of Strong Backup Experience and Proven Ability to Protect Mission Critical Data
    • 5 years of System Administration
    • 3 years of UNIX platform, OSX, Cisco IOS
    • 3 years of Windows Patch Management
    • 3 years of Windows Server
    • 3 years of Windows Server Platform

    Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

    • Specify, design, implement, and test network and computer system configurations and upgrades in consultation with the staff
    • Develop, coordinate, and implement network security plans and measures in accordance with government and the facility’s policies
    • Identify system performance issues and assess user needs in order to recommend specific changes and upgrades
    • Perform data backups and recoveries; assist staff with computer and network problems and tasks
    • Research and recommend commercial hardware and software products to meet project and group requirements
    • Order hardware and software products
    • Renew software licenses to ensure continuity of service
    • Interact with vendors, the facility’s personnel, and other system administrators to coordinate procurements, installations, upgrades, and other services.

    • Strong Backup Experience and Proven Ability to Protect Mission Critical Data

    • UNIX platform, OSX, Cisco IOS

    • Windows Server Platform
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision are required.
    • Must be team-oriented, be able to create documentation on systems to satisfy certification, technical staff, and end user needs.
    • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking problems is required.

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Experience with security plans (i.e. Risk Management Framework), procedures, and compliance with DoD directive 8140 is highly desired.
    • Work experience in mission-critical environments is highly desirable.
      Enterprise-level hardware and software applications like NetApp, Networker, Nagios, and Ansible.
    • Some working knowledge of programming languages such as Perl, python, C/C++, and scripting languages is desired.
    • Macintosh and iOS platform(s)
    • Technologies including DNS, DHCP, Proxy and Load Balancing
    • Virtualization Technologies to include VM management, Snapshots, SANs, and iSCSI Storage Systems
    • VM Ware ESXi and Associated Management Systems

    Location: This position involves working on location in Westford, Massachusetts at Millstone with occasional local travel to Lexington, MA. This is a challenging position with direct involvement in maintaining the operational readiness of all three radar systems.

    Work Schedule: This position will be 100% onsite due to the nature of the work. There may be some remote flexibility on a case-by-case basis but there are no regular remote days.

    Clearance: Candidates must have an active secret clearance with the ability to potentially obtain a TS/SCI in the future.

    Travel: This occasionally will involve call-ins during nights, weekends, and holidays due to power outages, or to provide mission-critical support/site emergencies. This could occur several times a year.
