About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Software Engineer – Prototype Systems to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The group develops novel technologies to characterize threats for applications and to provide decision support to operators and analysts.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.

What You’ll Do:

The group is in need of an Engineer I to design and develop prototype software systems that convey critical data products to users of these technologies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the design, development, and testing of complex software systems. Also, recommend strategies to accomplish overall software system architecture design, the composition of key components, integration with third-party data sources and libraries, implementation of real-time data processing modules, and implementation of user interfaces with required functionality.

  • 2 years of GIT/GITHUB

  • 3 years of RabbitMQ
  • 3 years of Visual Studio
  • 4 years of Software Testing
  • 4 years of Software Validation

Working Knowledge of the Following:

  • Software/applications: C++, Python, Qt, Visual Studio, and Java
  • Experience with UI design/implementation using Qt
  • Expertise with software testing and validation frameworks
  • Experience with bug-fixing and static code analysis methods
  • Familiarity with version control (GIT/GITHUB)
  • Experience preparing software deployments to operational settings
  • RabbitMQ
  • Docker containers

And These Skills are a Bonus:

  • Significant experience with the development of video processing applications (encoding/decoding, container formats, open-source video processing libraries, video analytics, etc.)
  • Capable of full-stack application development
  • Familiarity with JIRA

Location: Lexington, MA

Work Schedule: This position is hybrid: The individual will be required to be onsite 2-3 days a week. Candidates are expected to be local at the time of the start of the assignment. Final scheduled TBD by hiring manager. Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, MA.

Clearance: Interim clearance sufficient to start.
