About the Role:

Aquila is seeking an Application Developerto join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Even though this role is REMOTE you must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts. The candidate must be able to be onsite if necessary for the needs of the project. The onsite work will NOT be regular.

What You’ll Do:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Developer to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, Python and JavaScript development, with experience in web frameworks like React, Falcon, and containerization. They will also have a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and SQL databases. The successful candidate will be able to design, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient applications, and will have experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Microsoft Azure.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5 years- Data/Reporting
  • 5 years- SQL databases
  • 5 years- Understanding of data structures (arrays, linked lists, stacks, and queues)
  • 5 years- Agile Development Process
  • 5 years – Programming
  • 5 years- API Frameworks (Falcon)
  • 5 years- Familiarity with algorithms (sorting, searching, and graph traversal)
  • 5 years- Java
  • 5 years – JavaScript
  • 5 years- Python (3.x)
  • 5 years – Software Tools
  • 5 years- Containerization (Docker, podman, etc.)
  • 5 years – Front-end frameworks (React and Bootstrap)
  • 5 years- Systems
  • 5 years – Cloud Environment (AWS & Azure)
  • 5 years- Testing
  • 5 years- Testing frameworks and familiarity with debugging tools

Working Knowledge of the Following:

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient applications using Java, Python and web frameworks like React and Falcon
  • Develop and maintain SQL databases
  • Work with cloud platforms like AWS and Microsoft Azure to deploy and manage applications
  • Develop and maintain APIs using Python and containerization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop applications
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications using testing frameworks and debugging tools
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices

  • By Your Own Device (BYOD) Allowance Reimbursed up to $1500 for the purchase of a qualified technology device. Eligible after 90 days of employment, and benefit renews every three years.

Clearance: An interim clearance is sufficient for the start of this position.
